The festival met my expectations twice over. The organization was perfect, our teachers were amazing and so kind, all the complexities and details of the music, dance and songs were well explained and the teachers did their best to give us really good support making sure we really understood everything.

I felt very cared for and received supportive feedback from all the instructors.

Overall, it was an amazing experience. Travelling to Cuba, experiencing the culture, and seeing and meeting such skilled artists really broadened my horizons and gave me a deep understanding behind everything I was learning in London.

For more than a decade, the Afro-Cuban Dance Festival in Havana has created a bridge between Cuba and the world through authentic cultural immersion, artistic exchange, and the celebration of Afro-Cuban heritage.

For this 11th Anniversary edition, we proudly honour the extraordinary 65-year legacy of the Conjunto Folklórico Nacional de Cuba — one of the most important institutions in the preservation of Afro-Cuban culture, internationally recognised for its artistic excellence, authenticity, and profound contribution to Cuban cultural identity.

Under the guidance of the legendary Maestro Domingo Pau, with over 62 years of career wisdom, our exceptional team is hand-picked. He selects teachers, musicians, and assistants for their rich experience and dedication to Afro-Cuban culture, ensuring the festival’s authentic and vibrant spirit.

Luanda Pau

Luanda Pau is a dynamic force with over 32 years of experience as a teacher, dancer, and choreographer. Her international presence effortlessly bridges the gap between Cuban and European cultures. Multilingual and deeply passionate, Luanda continually develops projects that contribute to global cultural exchange and development.

Simon Atkinson

As one of the first Capoeira Masters outside of Brazil, His exploration of Afro-Cuban dance has been pivotal in developing Rhythmic Rope Flow and gaining profound insights into the foundational ways we move. Beyond his passion for movement, Simon is a 2009 graduate of the School of Social Entrepreneurs and a devoted father.
